Rear - SUSPENSION
The Frame Cross Braces are factory issues for SS, wagon and el Caminos.
I welded a plate on the bottom of the lower control arms to box them. Do not do this to the uppers. It is important that they are allowed to flex for proper motion of the rear suspension travel.

This is the upper and lower rear control arms and sway bar. I welded a plate on the bottom of the lower control arms to box them. Do not do this to the uppers. It is important that they are allowed to flex for proper motion of the rear suspension travel.

I installed polyurethane bushings and attached this sway bar using U-bolts.
On the inside, the U-bolts go through drilled holes in the control arms.
Installed upper control arms, Hop-Stop bars, springs and shocks.
These are old first version hop-stop bars. They did not have grease fittings in them so I added them. These need slight modifications to fit. The purpose of these is to keep the pinion angle correct as the suspension collapses under load when launching. It brings the rear pivot point of the upper control arms above the front pivot point.
Had to grind the tab on the rear housing to clear the right hop-stop bar. It is blocking the drain plug. That is why I put a drain plug in the Differential cover. Some come with it in them already.
It is essential that the mounting holes to these are drilled no closer than a ¼” from the edge to prevent them from breaking the webs on the rear housing.
Installed rubber insulators on the top of the springs and bolted in the shocks.
